Grand “Re-Opening’ to Celebrate Merger of
Birth & Family Health Center and The Effort
As another example of The Effort’s extension of their mission of continuum of care, on Wednesday, October 29th, at 10am, the Birth & Family Health Center will celebrate their merger with The Effort and become yet another vital member in The Effort’s continuum of services and agencies dedicated to serving families in the Sacramento area.
The Birth & Family Health Center (BFHC) is located at 3234 Marysville Blvd. Sacramento (646-8000)
Open since April of this year, BFHC is the only facility in their geographical area providing pre-natal care and holistic women’s health care to women and families, regardless of personal resources.
“I am excited about the increased services this merger will bring to our mutual patients. Our commitment to treating people with respect and kindness is identical to The Effort’s,” said BFHC Director Marie Young, “Creating access to care is embedded in our treatment and program philosophy, and we see this decision as an important step to widening and strengthening Sacramento’s safety net in these challenging economic times”
The open house event on October 29th will include brief comments from Robert Caulk, CEO of The Effort, Marie Young, Director of BFHC, Edward Kim, President of Molina Healthcare Group, Dr. Thomas Melchione, Medical Director of BFHC and Andy Bein, PhD, author and former BFHC Board President.
Tours will be provided for the media, which will demonstrate the working activity of the Health Center, including staff working with actual patients.
“We are thrilled to welcome the Birth and Family Health Center to our family at The Effort,” said Effort CEO Robert Caulk, “We are acutely aware of the care this agency has been providing for a very underserved area of our community.”
Created in 1969, The Effort provides health care, prevention, intervention, and treatment of substance abuse, child and family therapy, crisis intervention, child abuse and domestic violence prevention, and other health and social services. Our continuum of care also includes a crisis /suicide hotline, and a midtown family health clinic.
