24-Hour Parent Support Line
Our Parent Support Line, a free service from The Effort, receives calls 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We are committed to families. Our dedicated and extensively trained volunteers are available to parents, grandparents raising grandkids, and other caregivers who may be in crisis, seeking information or resources for their family, or just need someone to listen and provide encouragement when it's most needed.
We talk to parents of all ages about all types of parenting challenges -ages and stages, teen challenges, school problems, newborn struggles, single parenting, co-parenting after divorce, post partum depression, foster parenting, guardians, and more. We talk with parents who just felt like giving up, or a new mother who is considering surrendering her child. Or sometimes we just talk about what a parent needs so that they can be at their best for their children. Kids don't come with owners manuals-sometimes you just need to talk. We're here to listen.
The 24hr Parent Support Line is a program of The Effort. The Parent Support Line is a vital component of the Effective Parenting Initative Family Support Collaborative, and is supported by funding from First 5 Sacramento. Another element of this collaborative is The Effort's North Highlands Birth & Beyond Family Resource Center, one of eight family resource centers in the collaborative providing a wide range of services and support for families with children of all ages. Please call 1-888-281-3000 if you want to learn more about the Parent Support Line, or call the Business Line at (916) 368-3110 for information about these programs and services.
